As I am sure your child has told you, our school is part of Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS); a website and app that helps your child to master their times table skills in a fun and challenging way. Times Tables Rock Stars is used regularly by the children throughout the week alongside the teaching of times tables within their daily Maths lesson.

When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations and make progress. Twenty-one minutes a week is the magic number we would like all children to achieve, therefore we expect the children to be regularly accessing the website at home as part of their independent learning.

There are two single player modes for your child to play:

Garage – This is the main mode the children should play. TT Rock Stars works out which facts they take longer on and will give them more of these questions to answer.

Studio - the questions in the Studio can be anything from 2x2 up to 12x12. TT Rock Stars calculates each the mean speed from their last 10 games in the Studio and translates into a Rock Status. Your child's Rock Status will be displayed on our TTRS achievements board. Ask your child what their Rock Status is!

Soundcheck and Gig games are used in school by the teachers for assessment.

Your child knows their login details as they use them to access TTRS in school. If you have any difficulties accessing the website or you do not know your child’s login details, please do not hesitate to speak to me and I will be more than happy to help.

A national multiplication check has been introduced in Year 4. Children should know all times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4. For more information on this please read the information for parents document found below.

Children will be taught explicit lessons in school; however teachers would appreciate help from parents in ensuring children are fluent with this as they will only have 6 seconds to answer each question! The Soundcheck game simulates this check and will be used throughout the year to ensure the children are prepared for the check.
